Big metamorphosis for the restyled Hyundai Bayon in 2024!

Hyundai unveils the restyling of its Bayon urban crossover, which has undergone major cosmetic surgery. From now on, he clearly identifies with the Kona.

The year 2024 will also be that of small, more accessible urban crossovers: Citroën will renew the C3 Aircross and Hyundai is today unveiling a big update for the Bayon which goes from a fairly sober style to a much more assertive visual signature, very close to that of the last Kona. Family spirit obliges.

The first changes are on board: if the interior of the i20 is largely renewed, Hyundai has made efforts on the technological level with the arrival of new instrumentation and a 10.25-inch touch screen. All this is now delivered automatically. As an option on certain finishes, customers can opt for 100% digital instrumentation with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, induction charging and the latest version of Bluelink. Two USB-C ports (one front, one rear) and a front USB-A port for data transfers are present.

The eyes of a Kona

Can you even still call it a “look” when it’s a thin LED strip running along the front? The restyled Bayon inherits the style declined on the Kona, particularly futuristic. If the shapes and proportions do not change, the entire exterior trim of the small crossover has changed. At the rear, Hyundai announces a new shield but the changes are more timid. Also note the arrival of new models of 16 or 17 inch rims.

On the mechanical side, however, we should probably not expect miracles since the base of the i20 is not suitable for heavy electrification.

Currently, the only engine under the hood of the Bayon is the three-cylinder 1.0 T-GDI with 100 hp associated with a manual gearbox or the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Hyundai should therefore not shake up the Bayon in this regard, especially since it is a fairly confidential model with only 3,970 sales in 2023, in 96th place. Its most direct rival, the Citroën C3 Aircross, although more expensive and not necessarily better equipped, sold 20,465 copies.
